Blossoms

The blossoms on our favourite summer shade tree are in full bloom. As the wind blows the white petals snow down on the whole yard. The perfume has been so strong some days that we have had to stay away from the tree, and the children weren't able to climb its branches for a few days because of the swarms of bees buzzing from flower to flower.

Misty Morning

If you look carefully, you can just make out Elsie walking up the track. She'd been out for at least an hour, enjoying this most marvellously, misty morning.

The mist cleared a little while later, and the cloudless spring day was warm and fresh.

Learning to Ride a Bike

Here's Elsie helping Willem under the watchful eye of Jessica. He's not quite sure if he's ready for bike riding.

Ahh, that's better. Willem was just having trouble because of the pressure from his older sister.

Oh! No wonder he had a pained look on his face. It wasn't the big sister factor, it was the no nappy factor. Poor boy!

Hey! Get outa my bed!

The call had come for morning cuppas, so I got out of bed to make them. The billy had boiled, the jug of cocoa made, but where were the kids?

They'd crawled back into my bed!

And if I could have fitted, I would have joined them.

Quilting

Before we arrived at the farm I began this quilt. As I sewed, it seemed to become a bigger and bigger project, finally ending at two and half metres square. There's lots of reminders in it. Little girls' dresses, John's old shirt, scraps from a maternity dress, pieces my sister had given me, and lots of old sheets and pillow slips. Tabs have been sewn to the top edge so it can be hung across the front glass doors to keep out the chill.

The kitchen has a whole different feel to it. But now I've gone and started a new one! Well the kitchen window above the sink really needs dressing, too. This time my scraps are forming stars, and it's a handsewn template quilt, so it will take a little longer. Time, however, is something I have a fair bit of.

Rain Play

Even with all the rain, it was impossible to keep Willem inside. So we dressed him for the weather...
