Mowing a Paddock

Well, I did write a rather lengthy post a few days back, proofread it, and then hit the 'Publish Post' button. Twang, zip, ping! Crash goes my internet connection. Lost the whole thing. I was so disheartened I turned off the computer. The following day I tried again. Top speed was 9kBps. Winner!! I turned the computer off again.
So here I am trying again. Can I remember what I wrote? Probably not, but it went something like this...
Before the rain came a couple of days ago, the children and I had been attacking the house paddock with the lawn mower. With the rain falling now, the grass will grow even longer before we get to the end of the job.
We replenished our DVD supply yesterday, with a good spattering of monsters, thrilling escapes and even a little romance. Perfect timing with the inclement weather.
I tidied up the game shelf at the beginning of the week. That small job has created renewed interest in the games. I also got stuck into Elsie's shelf. She reckoned if she waited long enough I'd get sick of the mess and do something about it! She was right.
Shopping last Monday was fun. Spent a fair bit of time in Crazy Clark's and walked out with lots of little goodies, books and (more) storage containers. (Can one ever have enough storage containers?)
Beth has busied herself with painting a plaque which Josiah cut out for her. Lilly and Tildy also got the paints out during the week and produced some nice artwork for Daddy. We also received the pattern blocks and pattern cards that had been ordered months ago. These are SO much fun! Everyone has enjoyed them, and although the children began by using the pattern cards, they now use their imagination and creativity to produce some wonderfully colourful patterns. Jessica likes to stand them on end to create 3D patterns.
As the weather is a little cooler today than earlier in the week I dressed the little ones today. With singlet, t-shirt and tracksuit for warmth, Jessica was ready to play. I can now see her... stark naked. Well, I tried.
Monday and Tuesday were very hot days, and we took a leap of faith and hung the camp shower in our favourite tree. Yes, I agree, a drastic measure, and probably the cause of the thunderstorms we've been having since then. But, my hope and belief is that summer is so close, it's just around the corner, and outdoor showers will be just fine.
All in all, a pretty slow week on Wallaby Scrub. Just the way I like it!
