Snuggle bugs

Jessica and Emily looked so delicious and snuggly this morning that I couldn't resist snapping this shot of them. They had come bounding into my room, holding hands, calling out, "Good Morning, Mummy!" Sometimes they really are just too yummy.

Diet......

..... What diet???

Heeheeheehee!!!!

(By the way, it's an almond meal and egg omelette kind of thingy, with mixed berries and a dollop of whipped cream.)

Oh well... Someone has to do it.

Lazy Days

Friday around lunch time Willem was ready for his sleep. He wanted to join me in my hammock which hangs from our ornamental plum tree in the yard. It was cool. The wind certainly had a winter bite to it. We wrapped ourselves in a couple of woolly blankets and snuggled down. The sun is very low in the sky now, being nearly the winter solstice, but high enough to shine over the tall gums. There we spent the next three hours rocking gently, dozing in the winter warmth, and having some really good cuddle time. Can Wallaby Scrub get much better?

Tildy's Choice

Matilda Clare is 9 today!
Being Matilda's birthday, tradition dictates that the day is spent doing the things and eating the things that she wanted to.
Brunch was a platter full of doughboys (aka Wallaby Scrub Doughnuts) washed down with hot Milos.
Then came the serious business of choosing the site for the official birthday meal. The search took until around 2ish in the afternoon, and well worth the wait.
The jaffles were so delicious yesterday that we decided to do it again. The little red wagon was packed full of goodies and pulled, pushed, dragged and heaved up to our spot. We built a small fire at a place we call Wallaby Rocks and cooked our birthday feast. The fire also warmed us for it was a cool afternoon.

We wandered home around 5.30, the sun had set, and Willem pointed out the moon before he fell asleep in my arms. Nice day...yep, a very nice day.
Happy Birthday Pretty Girl....

Happy Birthday Matilda Clare

Happy 9th Birthday Matilda Clare! Tildy had an early birthday celebration yesterday at the national park...

Look at that wonderful grin! What a lovely 9 year old.

A Picnic Day

Washpool National Park is just on the edge of the mountain, the road leading down the mountain ends at the coast. Today we were able to meet Mum, Dad and Jen at the Granite Lookout Picnic Area. We all started the morning with at least five layers of clothing! but during the day we slowly peeled off those layers. Hot soup and jaffles got us all warm and gooey, with cups of coffee to fill the gaps. Jen managed a walk with all the children, except Willem, around the lookout loop walk (I know the kids enjoyed that).

Hey Mum! Can I serve up the soup?

Jessy had a thing going with her jaffle today. She carried it around all day, but never actually ate it.

My dad, a very special person.

I am now in possession of some discs that contain my baby photos and early years. It's so exciting. The children haven't seen my childhood photos and there will be many hours in the near future of them laughing (and hopefully 'oohing') over them.
