Getting Ready for Chickens

On 15th July we will take possession of ten laying chickens. So, we have been getting a home ready for them. With a little bit of reorganising of the garden area, some measuring and digging, and lots of help from the littlies, we're sure to have the pen ready for their arrival.
The chooks are coming from up north. I hope they won't suffer too much with the mountain winter frosts.

My three littliest babies always willing to help, and always willing to smile for the camera.

Da Boyz

Just can't resist showing off my boys. The photo of Willem in the box follows a wonderful episode of singing "Jack in the Box" while Josiah (our very own Jack) jumped up and animated the song. Willem was squealing with delight ... even after the twentieth time.
Josiah has been spending a lot of his time in the shed, hopefully producing some wonderful wood products. Both of the boys have been sharing time together, Josiah pulling Willem around in the little red wagon, going for walks and playing all manner of games. I said to Josiah only yesterday "You know Willem thinks you're the best brother ever?" Josiah willingly and wholeheartedly agreed.

Meeting Emily Joy

Emily Joy
Five Years and Four Months old

Emily Joy is five years old. Being the princess that she is, Emily loves to dress up, dance, sing, play weddings and generally 'fluff' around.

Often willing to help with fun jobs, here she is digging the trench to lay the wire in for the new chicken coop. Willem is trying to show her a better way.

Belle and Emily are fast becoming best friends. Emily is still working on the finer points of dog handling and obedience, but Belle is very forgiving to her young mistress.

At the end of each day, Emily enjoys snuggling down in her soft, warm bed.

Emily Joy is a bright, imaginative little girl. Reading Emily-style and drawing are two of her favourite hobbies, and she uses these skills often when writing to Daddy.

Monday at Wallaby Scrub

Having arrived home last night fairly late, we emptied the contents of the car into the loungeroom, ate dinner, and headed for bed. That means we got up this morning to the contents of the car in the loungeroom, which throughout the day needed to find their way back into drawers and onto shelves.
However, we did find time to assemble the new little red wagon, and take Willem for a walk around The Common. Jessica hopped in for a while, too.

Elsie managed an afternoon sleep, the puppies were given a much needed bath, and Josiah cooked a really tasty meal for me tonight.
We had such a wonderful time in Brisbane, but there really is 'no place like home'.
