The Clash of Metal...
Swords again! It was a bit of a mad rush to get to Elsie's practice session yesterday. We'd been up collecting some things from BCF (one of our favourite shops), coming home to finish preparing the meat for jerky, knowing full well that we would be at a ladies' evening later on. I was rushing around madly trying to finish jobs and tidy the house in readiness for John's return today.
While Elsie sparred and clashed metal, the children and I sat in the shade on our picnic blanket. We had wandered up to Aldi and picked up a few picnic supplies, so the children were quite content to hang around.
The evening with the ladies was a success. We watched the next installlment of the Duggar Family and the birth of their 16th child. Amazing. We also saw them complete the 7,000 square feet mansion that they have built themselves - all debt free. Makes me start to think of our dreams for Wallaby Scrub.
Obviously we are hoping to build our dream home one day on our block. All the way home last night we discussed what that included. A full library with sliding ladder was on the top of the list. We thought lofts were pretty necessary, verandahs all around, and lots of wood stoves. We want to build a house that is very Australian, with timber from our own block. I can't help thinking what a great learning opportunity an adventure like this will be for the children.
Well, without a vision the people perish, so the scripture goes. So I am going to hold on to my vision of the Gutty family home and work towards seeing my dream realized.
